Well, we're in Berkeley and unpacking. I love it here. We're near fourth street with enough large trees to make the weather perfect. I can go outside and not feel immediately flattened by the sun. Walking distance to lots of shops (including toy) so it's easy to get out of the house and somewhere we can both enjoy when nap time is slow in coming.
Today was my first trip back to Hopkins Street. We didn't go in, but noticed that Magnani's has moved into a bigger space, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they've added. The highlight of the day was the trip to Monterey Market. I may be a little funny about grocery shopping, but being near Monterey Market was one of the things I most looked forward to with this move. See if any of the following convince you:
a) it's a run-down wreck of a place, mostly fruits and vegetables, outside and in. It's dark with an uneven concrete floor--you wouldn't be surprised to see a puddle somewhere, but I don't think I ever have. It smells just like a grocery store should.
b) Alice Waters shops there.
c) It's cheap (sort of).
It is now (or I wouldn't be writing) nap time and I should try to get something accomplished.
